The county Parks department is looking for teenagers to host The Parks Show, its 15-minute monthly television program on County Cable Montgomery.

The department will audition teenagers this Saturday for the summer job. The audition is the first of two open auditions the department will hold; the second is scheduled for April 5.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The auditions are between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Brookside Gardens Visitor’s Center Auditorium, 1800 Glenallan Avenue in Wheaton.

During the audition, the teenagers — ages 14 to 17 — will be screen-tested in front of CCM television cameras reading a preselected script from a teleprompter. The teenagers will also be asked to respond to the question: ‘‘Why do you like parks?”

After both auditions, the field will be narrowed to five finalists and county residents can vote online from May 1 to the 15th for the host. The winner will host the August and September episodes and can earn up to 100 student service hours — which are required for graduation — for working on the show.
