The Frederick Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Elisa Kohler, will present ‘‘Sounds of Spring” at 8 p.m. Saturday at Frederick Community College’s Jack B. Kussmaul Theater, 7932 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

The concert will feature Aaron Copland’s inspiring ‘‘Appalachian Spring Suite.” The Orchestra will also be joined by British pianist Rachel Franklin for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15.

As a soloist and ensemble artist, Franklin has performed in Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Israel, Canada, and the United States, and her chamber music recordings can be found on such labels as Sony and Sonoris. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, WQXR and WNYC in New York, WJHU in Baltimore, and Radio Telefis Eireann in Ireland.

In addition, Franklin has been the subject of a feature on National Public Radio’s ‘‘Performance Today,” with whom she has given frequent spoken broadcasts. She is in great demand as a classical and jazz chamber pianist, and she is the founder and artistic director of the classical⁄jazz chamber ensemble SONOS.

Franklin is a faculty member at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

The orchestra will open the program with Bedrich Smetana’s Overture to ‘‘The Bartered Bride.” Ticket holders may join Music Director Elisa Koehler in the theater at 7:30 p.m. for a pre-concert talk.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.
