A Monday afternoon fire at a Germantown apartment building has been ruled an arson, said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia.
More than 30 firefighters responded to a fire in the 20000 block of Sweetgum Circle, near Middlebrook Road in Germantown, at 1:12 p.m., Garcia said. Firefighters only needed five minutes to put out the fire found on the patio of an unattended first floor apartment, Garcia said.
Fire investigators ruled out an electrical malfunction after their investigation of a light fixture on the patio, Garcia. The fire caused $6,000 in damages, Garcia said.
