A soccer coach arrested earlier this month for allegedly sexually abusing a girl at a River Road soccer camp is facing more charges.
Another girl has come forward to claim she was sexually abused by Juan Jose Aranguri, who was free on bond when he was arrested again Tuesday, county police announced.
Aranguri, 46, of the 5700 block of Luxemburg Street in Rockville, was charged with sexual abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sexual offense, and second-degree assault after the girl said she had been abused between April 1 and June 30, 2004.
At the time, the girl was 14 and Aranguri was her personal trainer. She claims he touched her inappropriately while she was stretching her legs, police said.
According to Lt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman who cited charging documents for the first arrest, Aranguri inappropriately touched a 12-year-old girl after she developed cramps and he began massaging her legs.
The girl was a student at the South America Soccer Academy, a soccer camp directed by Aranguri that met at the Bretton Woods Recreation Center on River Road.
The alleged incident occured in July, police said.
He was arrested on those allegations on Aug. 11. After that arrest, Aranguri stepped down as coach of a girls' team with the Bethesda Soccer Club, and has been suspended from other coaching duties with MSI, one of the county's largest soccer clubs.
"We're erring on the side of absolute caution, because that's the right thing to do for the kids," said Doug Schuessler, executive director of MSI.
The abuse charges generated controversy among the Montgomery County soccer community, with some parents coming to Aranguri's defense.
Police said they have received calls from parents who believe he is innocent, as well as parents who are concerned about their children's safety.
Aranguri, who was released on $25,000 bond Tuesday, could not be reached for comment.
