A Kensington woman was reportedly raped and assaulted Monday night while running on a trail in Rock Creek Park near Connecticut Avenue and Beach Drive.

The woman attempted to flag down passing motorists for help, but managed to walk home when she could not get anyone's attention, police said. After she got home, she was given a ride to an area hospital.
In addition to the sexual assault, she sustained trauma to her face, neck and shoulders. She remains hospitalized her injuries, police said.
Police said the suspect is described as a dark-skinned black man wearing a white tank-top and black pants. Anyone who saw someone matching the description in the area of the attack Monday night is asked to call the county police's Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
