Charles Ludger Marshall, 84, of Rockville, formerly of Hawley, Pa., died Oct. 10, 2009, in Manor Care of Potomac.
Born March 26, 1925, in Miami, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Barbara F. Unger Marshall.
He was the husband of Betty A. Pinnock Marshall for 58 years.
Mr. Marshall served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II aboard the USS Wasp-C18 stationed in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
Mr. Marshall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from the University of Scranton in 1952. He began working for the Navy Department in 1952 in NavSea and later moved to NavAir, where he was the lead contracting officer for the procurement of the Phantom. He retired in 1990.
Mr. Marshall was a founding father of the Montgomery County Swim League and volunteered with the organization for many years. He was also a Boy Scout leader and a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and Rockville Little Theater.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Stacy A. Crawford and husband Jim and Charles H. Marshall and wife Erica, all of Rockville, and Susan E. Marrama and husband John of Hagerstown; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Rockville. A reception will follow.
Burial was in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley.
