Jessie Kimball Dryden and Matthew Thaddeus Smith were married July 2 in Holden Beach, N.C.
The bride is the daughter of Kim Pier of Sierraville, Calif., and Oscar Dryden of Martinez, Calif. She earned a degree in political science and education from Swarthmore College in 2004 and is a case manager and educator at Community Violence Solutions in San Pablo, Calif.
The groom is the son of Sue Smith of Gaithersburg and Glasco Smith of Sunset Beach, N.C. The 2002 Watkins Mill High School graduate earned a degree in mathematics and education from Swarthmore College in 2006 and a master's in education from Stanford University in 2007. He teaches math at KIPP King Collegiate High School in San Lorenzo, Calif.
Following a honeymoon in Maui, the couple reside in Oakland, Calif.
