U-12 soccer team shuts out Crofton

The Maryland City Mustangs U-12 boys' soccer team was a 3-0 winner against the Crofton Lightning Strikers on Friday. Alex Medrano, Tyler Reyda and Xavier Joyner each had a goal, while Jay Venit, Ruben Cortes and Reyda each had an assist. Mario Fonseca, Javier Pinder and Caleb Likele led the defense in front of goalkeepers Venit and Fonseca.
Spirit beats Mustangs
The Maryland City Mustangs U-14 girls' soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Broadneck Spirit on Saturday. Jackie Tessier, Georgia Bussink, Asha Modali and Abby Ladd led the Mustangs' attack. Zipporah Harris-Bryant, Paola Lara, Amanda Fortner, Nika Peden and Dianna Portillio led the defense.
U-9 boys beat Storm
The Maryland City Mustangs U-9 boys' soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 3-1 win against the SCYA Storm. Andy Portillo scored all three goals, and Nicholas Ross and Joseph Pacheco shared time in goal. Bobby Whiteside and Eric Orellana also contributed, as the Mustangs improved to 7-1.
U-10 team earns shutout
The Maryland City Mustangs U-10 boys' soccer team shut out the St. Jane's Strikeforce, 6-0, on Saturday. Shaun Joyner scored twice, while Chad Bobrick, Tejas Khanna, Chase Adler and Graham Bussink each had one goal. Jordan Miller and Alex Seales led the defense.
U-10 girls lose
The Maryland City Mustangs U-10 girls' soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Arden Attackers on Saturday. Jennifer Ramirez and Katherine Ernest led the way in the loss for the Mustangs.
Mustangs top St. Jane's
The Maryland City Mustangs U-11 girls' soccer team broke a scoreless tie with two second-half goals in a 2-0 win against St. Jane's last week. Kori Whiteside scored the first goal with assists from Anissa Mose and Brooke Sutter. Ellie Schiffrik scored off a long throw-in from Lauren Ritter and a left footed cross by Mose. Nisha Modali, Elyssa Bellofatto and Victoria Comings led the defense, and Ritter and Skylar Taylor split time in goal to share the shutout, as the Mustangs improved to 5-1-1.
U-9 girls win
The Maryland City Mustangs U-9 girls' soccer team rolled to an 8-0 victory against Davidsonville to remain undefeated. Allie Ritter scored five goals, Crystal Krug added two and Veronica Griswold had one as the Mustangs improved to 8-0. Nina Sadoski, Grace Kigo, Sasha Baghdadi and Sallay Fofana had assists, and Cecilia Ramirez, Carley Wilson and Nyah Doe the defense in front of goalkeeper Madelyn Ault, who made four saves for the shutout.
Mini Kicks in action
The Orange Fire played a tough game against the Lightening Bugs. Kristina Eyombo and Kayla Sterling led the offense and David Okonkwo and Alexis Merka led the defense for the Orange Fire in a Maryland City Mini Kicks game against the Lightning Bugs. No scores are kept in the league. Samantha Ferrer, Zavier Howard and Elias Jones scored for the Lightning Bugs, and Araceli Blanco made several stops in goal.
In other league games, Jonathan Castillo and Joel Herrera scored goals and Maylyn Pacheco and Ana Nunez led the defense for the Blue Kickers, while goalie Eddie Sargent and Kaila Winn led the defense and Alexandra Thompson and Austin Greenan led the offense for the Green Frogs.
Nathan Tate, Joey Matthews, Mike Thompson and Jake Mickey shared time in goal for the Blue Flames, and Jai Khanna, Arianna Mandela, Arianna Channey and Alex Marx led the offense for the Green Frogs.
Ian Fabregas, Cameron Salisbury and Victoria Perrow led the Red Fireballs, while goalie Reese McMillian, Dalin Strommer and Joshua Watters led the way for the Purple Cheetahs.
Halloween morning the Sharks took on the Crocs in a thrilling mini-kicks match. Five out of the eight players scored goals for the Sharks.
Kyle Gaskins and Tyrell Rodriguez each scored three goals and Ryan Portillo had one for the Sharks, while goalkeeper Daniela Kraft, Jadea Yanovitz and Devin Ross led the way for the Crocs.
Wildcats lose finale
The Gambrills-Odenton Recreation Council Wildcats 80-pound football team ended its season with a 33-0 loss to the Chesapeake Panthers. The Wildcats' defense combined for 29 tackles and six assists.
Cubs Patriot tops
South Germantown
The Laurel Boys and Girls Club Cubs Patriot football team beat South Germantown, 20-0, on Saturday. Edward Dorsey scored three touchdowns, including two on 50-yard runs. Julius Duvall, Neko Grant, Tavon Ousley and Keith Vacek also contributed on offense. Andrew Henderson, Alejandro Roberts, Jaidin Lodge, Isaiah Novosel, Dylan Reyes and Elijah Lindsey provided strong blocking. On defense, Elijah Lindsey, Isaiah Lindsey, Ousley, Jorden Thomas, Novosel, Khalil Rollins, Chester Rogers, Stallie Edmonds, and Dorsey all recorded multiple tackles.
Tryouts/tournaments planned
The Maryland Ruff Riders are hosting the annual Pre-Turkey Jam Basketball Tournament on Nov. 21-22 for boys' and girls' teams in the U-10 through
