Arrest made in recent homicide

Police arrested a District Heights man in connection with a Langley Park homicide that occurred earlier in the month.

Police arrested Chelley Reco Thorne, 34, of District Heights on Dec. 20 and charged him with first-degree murder in the death of Jose Richard Escoto.

Escoto was found dead on Dec. 9 on University Boulevard with a gunshot wound to his upper extremities. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police apprehended Thorne in the 1200 block of Canal Street SW in Washington, D.C. without incident.
